BBEO Celebrates 2010 Scholars
BBEO
celebrated the recipients of our 2010 scholarships
recently with a special ceremony at the
African-American Research Library & Cultural Center
in Fort Lauderdale. As proud parents and BBEO board
members looked on, the scholarship recipients talked
about their high school achievements, their college
plans and career goals.

BBEO Supports The UNCF
BBEO continued its support of higher education
recently with a $3,000 donation to The UNCF,
formerly known as The United Negro College Fund. The
BBEO’s grant was to provide financial aid to
students from Broward County attending Florida’s
historically black colleges and universities.
Over the course of the last five years, the BBEO has
donated approximately $15,000 to the UNCF and
another $15,000 directly to three Florida
universities: Bethune Cookman University, Florida
Agricultural and Mechanical University and Florida
Memorial University. By providing scholarships
directly to Broward County students and grants to
UNCF and Florida colleges, the BBEO continues its
core mission of supporting education.
The Gala 2010BBEO
presented the Fifth Annual Black History Month
Benefit, "Our Legacy,"
on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Hard
Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood,
Florida.
The evening included a Reception, Community
Service Awards and a Concert.
